The U.S. House of Representatives is one of two chambers for the federal legislature. Representatives begin the legislation process, offer amendments, and serve on committees.
Representative must be at least twenty-five years old, have been a citizen of the United States for at least seven years, and be an inhabitant of the state they seek to represent.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $0; signature requirement of a number of voters equal to at least 2% of the total vote of the candidates's party in the state or congressional district, or of 77 qualified voters (major party candidates), 1% of the total number of votes cast for governor at the last preceding general election at which a governor was elected (minor party candidates), or a number of voters equal to at least 2% of the total number of votes cast in the state (independent candidates).
