About this position
State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.

Salary
Compensation for state legislators is indexed off of a base per diem rate set in 2011 and increased at the beginning of every new term based on the percentage increase of the salaries of state employees over the preceding term. The base per diem rate was $130/day in 2011 (NRS 218A.630).

Eligibility Requirements
Candidate must be a duly qualified elector in their district, at least 21 years old, a resident of the state for one year, and a resident of the district for at least 30 days preceding filing deadline.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $100; Filing fee for independent candidates only is 1% of total number of voters for the position in the previous election, or 100 eligible voters.
Paperwork Instructions
Submit paperwork to the Secretary of State's office if the district is comprised of more than one county; submit paperwork to the county clerk if the office is wholly contained in a single county.
