Must be at least 18 years of age // Must be a U.S. citizen // Must be a resident of the village
Filing Requirements
No filing fee. An independent nominating petition for a village office must be signed by at least 100 voters in villages containing a population of 5,000 or more; by at least 75 voters in villages containing a population of 3,000 and less than 5,000; by ay least 50 voters in villages containing a population of 1,000 and less than 3,000; and in villages containing a population of less than 1,000 by voters numbering at least 5% of the number of voters at the last regular village election.
