The Board of Public Affairs serves as the hub of city communications and is responsible for providing information and assistance with municipal concerns to citizens.
Candidate must be at least 18 years of age by the time of election, a resident of the city/village for at least 1 year immediately prior to election, and a registered voter in the city/village. Candidate must not hold any other public office except as a notary or state militia member.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee: $30. Petition signature requirement: 10, for villages with population < 2000. If village population is > 2000: 50 signatures for major party candidates, 25 for minor party candidates. Requirement for independent party candidates is based on number of votes cast in last general election for governor: if < 5000, 25 or a number = 5% of the vote (whichever is less); if > 5000, number = 1% of the vote.
