The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Must be a registered voter in Seaside and shall have resided in the City during the 12 months immediately before being appointed to office; may not be a city employee unless the position is substantially voluntary in nature; may only be a candidate for one position in a single election. To qualify for Council office, the candidate must reside in the ward or wards which the Council position represents, and must continue to reside there through the term of office for which the Councilor is elected
Filing Requirements
File form SEL 101 and file by petition with at least 20 signatures of Seaside electors with form SEL 121 (must be approved before circulating) [note: all signatures must be numbered and verified by the city elections official and filed with SEL 338]
