The county Prothonotary is an elected row officer responsible for official documents related to civil and family matters in local courts. Legal documents recorded can include appeals, equity, divorce, executions, final orders, judgments, liens or subpoenas. The Prothonotary also processes appeals from lower courts to the appellate courts.
All persons elected to any county office must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, and residents of the county for at least one year prior to their election.
