Job description

The County Superintendent leads the team of employees at the RCOE in working with each of the county's students to help ensure all students receive a high quality education, and that they graduate from high school well prepared for the workplace and for college. The County Superintendent and staff work to ensure each school district remains in solid financial condition. The County Superintendent advocates at the local, state and national levels for good public education policy on behalf of the students, families, schools and school districts in the county.

Must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and not disqualified by the constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office

Filing requirements: Filing fee is 1% of the first year salary as of the first day on which a candidate may circulate petitions in-lieu of filing fees; signature requirement if the number of registered voters in the district in which a candidate seeks nomination is 2,000 or more is three signatures of registered voters for each dollar of the filing fee, or 7 percent of the total of registered voters in the district, whichever is less; if the number of registered voters in the district in which a candidate seeks nomination is less than 2,000, requirement is three signatures of registered voters for each dollar of the filing fee, or 14 percent of the total of registered voters in the district in which the candidate seeks nomination, whichever is less.
