Job description

The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.

Eligibility requirements

Must be: At least 18 years of age, A registered voter of Pinellas County, A resident of the City for 18 months immediately prior to qualifying for election.

Paperwork instructions: Submit paperwork to the county supervisor of election's office.
Filing requirements: Candidates are required to submit petitions containing 200 registered electors' signatures and no fee OR 40 registered electors' signatures AND a fee of $50.00. Also pay assessment fee of $195.06 (1% of annual salary). Law requires that a candidate must also file the following: Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests, Loyalty Oath and Oath of Candidate (Form DS-DE 25 for Non Partisan Office), Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository (Form DS-DE 9) and within 10 days file Statement of Candidate (Form DS-DE 84)
