Eligibility requirements
Must be at least 25 years of age, a registered voter in the county, a holder of a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent, and a resident of the county for at least two years immediately preceding the date of qualifying for election. Each candidate must have successfully completed a basic training course provided by the Georgia Police Academy, and if any candidate is elected who has not completed this course, they must complete said course within 180 days of election.
