Job description
Primary duties of the position will include prosecution of criminal offenses, pretrial preparation by charging decisions, reviewing police reports, witness/victim interaction, pretrial hearings, and legal research, participates in trial work by negotiating case dispositions, meeting with judges, attorneys, officers, and witnesses, and trying bench and jury trials, completes post-trial work by sentencing, restitution hearings, probation review hearings, and contempt hearings for non-compliance with court orders, Participates in mental health commitments, and consultation and training of law enforcement officials.
Eligibility requirements
Candidate must be admitted to the practice of law in the courts of Iowa when sworn in, must be a US citizen. Must be an Iowa resident at the time of the election, a resident of the county when sworn in. Must be at least 18 years old.
