The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Eligibility requirements
Candidate must be a registered voter. Must have resided within the city for at least 1 year prior to election, and within the district sought for at least 6 months prior to eleciton. Cannot be convicted and sentenced of, nor have plead guilty or nolo contendere to any felony charges (unless it has been pardoned, reversed, vacated, set aside, the guilty plea unaccepted by jury, or expunged under state law). Cannot be an active-service member of the US armed forces.
