Job description
The County Recorder, Register of Deeds, or Register of Mesne Conveyance is the officer responsible for keeping records of vital statistics, notarized deeds of trust, and other deeds affecting real property.
Eligibility requirements
Is not delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence as stated in the declaration of candidacy; Is not a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state; Has not been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America; Has not been convicted of or found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under the laws of Missouri; In addition to any other penalties provided by law, no person may file for any office in a subsequent election until he or the treasurer of his existing candidate committee has filed all requiredcampaign disclosure reports for all prior elections; Citizen of the United States; Resident of the state 1 year next preceding the election; Register voter; Over 21 years of age, Register voter, Resident of the state of Missouri and the county for one year prior to the election

Filing requirements: Show Identification; Complete the Form 5120 Candidate's Affidavit of Tax Payments for the Department of Revenue; Complete the Notice to Candidate Personal Financial Disclosure for the Missouri Ethics Commission; File a Declaration of Candidacy; and Submit a $50.00 filing fee (cash or check) payable to the County Central Committee for the State or Party in which they are filing. Independent candidates must further submit a petition with a number of signatures equal to at least 2% of the total number of voters who voted at the last election for candidates for the office being sought (or 10,000 whichever is less).
