Job description

The County Attorney/Public Administrator is a joint position that acts as the chief legal prosecutor of the county and is also responsible for administering estates of deceased residents who are without available family to administer the estate or who did not leave a will designating a person to serve as executor of the estate.

Eligibility requirements

A candidate must be 18 years of age; a citizen of the state; and an elector of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised; or (b) in the case of an office consolidated between two or more counties, an elector in one of the counties in which the duties of the office are to be exercised. In counties with a population greater than 30,000, candidate must have resided in the state for 2 years immediately before taking office and attmitted to the practice of law for at least 5 years before appointment; in counties with a population less than 30,000, candidate must have resided in the state for 2 years immediately before taking office and attmitted to the practice of law for at least 3 years before appointment; part-time candidates must reside in state.
