Job description

The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.

Eligibility requirements

A candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, a city resident, and must not have any outstanding campaign finance compliance issues or fines with the Office of the City Clerk. Additionally, a candidate must either not have a felony conviction or must have presented the governor with a certificate verifying the completion of the sentence and have been granted a pardon or a certificate by the governor restoring their full rights of citizenship.
