Job description
The Soil and Water District Board, or Water Improvement District Board, is responsible for overseeing soil and watersheds within the district, and making plans and proposals to maintain and improve their quality.
Eligibility requirements
No person shall become a candidate in a regular local election unless the person physically resides within the boundaries of the district or districted area in which the person desires to be elected or to represent and the person's record of voter registration shows that the person is both a qualified elector of the state and was registered to vote in the area to be elected to represent on the date the proclamation calling a local election is filed in the office of the secretary of state.

Filing requirements: Declaration of Candidacy, Affidavit of Designee for Filing (if someone files on behalf of candidate), Each person desiring to be a director of a watershed district shall file a nominating petition with the proper filing office in accordance with the provisions of the Local Election Act, signed by ten or more qualified electors.
