Job description
The chief administrative officer (Road Superintendent, Highway Superintendent) of the county highway department has general control over the location, relocation, construction, reconstruction, repair, and maintenance of the county road system as well as the other administrative tasks which are conferred by the general law, plus any other authority granted by private act which does not conflict with the general law
Eligibility requirements
All persons of the age of eighteen years who are citizens of the United States and of TN, and have been inhabitants of the state, county, district, or circuit are qualified to hold office under the authority of this state unless this person: has been convicted of a felony; has not paid a judgment for money received in an official capacity, which is due to the US, TN, or any county; has defaulted to the treasury at the time of election (in which case the election is void); serves in the armed forces of the United States; or is a member of Congress or holds any office of profit or trust under any foreign power. Eligible candidates must reside in the county in which they are seeking office.
