Job description
The County Court Clerk is responsible for retaining, preserving, and filing in order all papers in civil cases; transmitting papers when an appeal has been taken to circuit court; and keeping in a well-bound book a docket of all judgments and executions, or storing such information in an electronic format in accordance with rules for the safekeeping of these records
Eligibility requirements
All persons of the age of eighteen years who are citizens of the United States and of TN, and have been inhabitants of the state, county, district, or circuit are qualified to hold office under the authority of this state unless this person: has been convicted of a felony; has not paid a judgment for money received in an official capacity, which is due to the US, TN, or any county; has defaulted to the treasury at the time of election (in which case the election is void); serves in the armed forces of the United States; or is a member of Congress or holds any office of profit or trust under any foreign power. Eligible candidates must reside in the county wherein the court is held.
