Job description
The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Eligibility requirements
The Mayor and each Commissioner shall be citizens of the United States, and have resided in the City of Kingsville for a continuous period of 12 months, and have attained the age of 21 years at the time of filing as a candidate for such position; and have the other qualifications of an Elector in the City and as provided for candidates in the State Election Code. The Mayor and each Commissioner shall not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liabilities to local taxing entities. ("In arrears" is defined herein to mean that payment has not been received within ninety (90) days from due date.) The Mayor, Commissioners, and other officers and employees shall not hold any other public office of emolument, except the Office of Notary Public, and shall not be interested in the profits or emoluments or any contract, job, work or service for the municipality, or interested in the sale to or by the City of any property, real or personal.
