Job description
The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Eligibility requirements
Commissioners shall be qualified voters under the laws of Texas, residents of the City of Mercedes; be free from all debts and taxes owing to the said City and shall have resided within the limits of said City for three years next before the election, and shall devote such time as may be found necessary to fulfill the duties of commissioners herein prescribed, and as the needs of the City may require.
