Local school board members are responsible for overseeing school operations within the district, typically including employment decisions regarding a district superintendent.
Must be a resident of the district at the time of the election and a registered voter. Must not be an employee of the school district or hold a conflicting public office as defined by the state constitution.
Filing Requirements
Candidates must register a statement of intent with the county voter registration and board of elections. South Carolina law further requires that candidates complete a Statement of Economic Interest and submit it electronically to the State Ethics Commission website before March 30th by noon or during the 14 day filing period for elections that do not coincide with the November general.
