Must be a U.S. citizen // Must be at least 18 years of age // Must be a registered voter in the city by the filing deadline // Must have resided in the district continously for the six months immediately preceding the filing deadline // Must have resided in Texas continously for one year immediately preceding the filing deadline // Must not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court // Must not have been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities // Must not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or liabilities owed to the city

Filing fee of $0. Petition signature requirement of 0.5% of the entire vote cast for mayor in the preceding mayoral election, or twenty-five (25), whichever is greater (signatures only required without fee).
