Meet eligibility requirements
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen, a Texas resident for at least 1 year, a resident of the county for at least 6 months, registered to vote in the county, and at least 18 years old.

- Filing requirements
- Filing fee is $750 if county has a population of less than 200,000, otherwise filing fee is $1,250; signature requirement is 0. Alternatively, filing fee is 0, signature requirement is the lesser of 2% of registered voters or 500 signatures.
