The Legislature Chair or President of Council is responsible for overseeing the sessions of the municipal legislature. The chair will monitor and evaluate pending legislative, regulatory and legal actions on an ongoing basis.

Eligibility Requirements
Be a resident and eligible to vote in the Commonwealth of Virginia for at least one year
Filing Requirements
Must file a Certificate of Candidate Qualification, submit a primary filing fee. The fee is 2% of salary, or if there is not salary attached to the position, it is $5.00. Declaration of Candidacy is also required as well as Petition of Qualified voters. Statement of Economic Interests, Party Certification and Statement of Organization and Campaign Finance Reports are also all required documents.
