Fun Fact
I have over 20 years of food and beverage industry experience.
Past Experience
I'm a community advocate, an educator and an urban planner with years of experience working in our community. I have served on numerous committees and boards dedicated to making the region a better place to live, work and play. I was part of the Charleston Stormwater Standards Task Force reviewing the now updated stormwater standards placed upon new development that will protect our properties from future flooding due to incompatible development. I am currently on the Charleston Zoning Code Rewrite Community Advisory Panel guiding our new zoning standards ensuring that development no longer encroaches on our waterways. My time in the classroom demonstrated that our schools are not separate from the surrounding community, but a reflection of the health and vitality of our neighborhoods. I have also been in local government doing my part to ensure that development serves the community, that transportation is safe, that transit is adequate, that our small businesses have the support they need to thrive in this ever global economy.
My Top Issues
Sustainable land use practices
We should encourage small scale infill development where infrastructure already exists.
Accessibility and mobility
I want to improve the bike and pedestrian network, and transit access for our region.
Increasing affordable housing options
Affordable, safe neighborhoods are essential to our long term resilience.
