Fun Fact

I have lived in the community all of my life. I am a runner.

Past Experience

My name is Adam McBride I have served in the US Air Force for nearly 18 years. I attended school at the University of Alabama, Alabama A&M, and Liberty University where I received a doctorate in educational leadership. I have taught history for 15 years, I am married with four daughters, and I am a Christian. I am a life-long resident of Grant. My family has lived in the community since its founding. I graduated from DAR as have my father, grandparents, and many other relatives. My ties to the community run deep. Therefore, I care about its development. Grant has seen strong growth in recent years. Huntsville is the 15th fastest growing city in the nation and is expanding in all directions including Highway 72 and 431. The Grant community is a prime location due to its close proximity to Huntsville, scenic views, good school, and safe community. I have spoken with people who have moved from other regions of the country who love the small town atmosphere. The growth of the surrounding areas will continue to impact Grant in the coming years. I am not opposed to economic development and expansion but I believe we should pursue these goals in a fiscally responsible manner that does not sacrifice Grant’s identity. My goal is to accommodate this growth while maintaining the small-town atmosphere that makes the community attractive. For this, there are three points that I think we, as a community, should focus on and each is tied to the other two. First, I want to focus on zoning and districting. Offer incentives to bring new residents into the community. I believe we need to expand the business district in Grant to encourage growth. The second point as relates to the first is to encourage small business growth. With an expanded business district, we can incentivize small businesses, including new restaurants, to invest in our community. Third, I want to focus on community development and fiscal responsibility. Grant is currently debt-free and I want to keep it that way. We can use the increased revenue from new business to develop the community, beautification, and parks & recreation, without raising property taxes or going into debt.
