Taxes / Budget Improving the public’s knowledge of our budget and financial expenditures through “Open Government” required building support at city hall for prioritizing accountability and shared information with the public.As a result of arguments I made, the city adopted the system allowing all citizens access to the budget, thereby increasing trust for the budget process. I pledge, that as your Commissioner, I will work to reinstate this system Taxes / Budget I support working to increase our tax base and not our taxes as a priority of our budgeting. City hall should be constantly reexamining the sources of our revenue and looking to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of our expenditures. Government Reform I led the successful effort to develop our city’s Open Government, which allowed the public to use the internet to see how and where their tax dollars were being spent. However since 2019 Open Government has been deleted and the public can no longer easily access their tax dollars. As your Commissioner I will prioritize reinstating the public’s access to your tax dollars.
