Criminal Justice / Public Safety Ciatta believes the people closest to the problem are the ones best equipped to solve it. She’ll champion the Local Control and Safety Act to return the power to counties and cities to address public safety, homelessness, and law enforcement issues without state overreach. Housing There are over 400 nonprofits in Multnomah County claiming to tackle homelessness, yet the problem keeps growing. Ciatta will end duplication, demand transparency, and suspend funding for organizations that can’t show positive outcomes. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Every Oregonian innocent until proven guilty and deserves a fair fight in court. Ciatta will ensure public defenders are fully funded, restoring balance to a justice system that currently leaves thousands without proper representation. Housing Ciatta will introduce a bill blocking institutional investors from buying single-family homes, ensuring that Oregon neighborhoods remain for families, not Wall Street portfolios. Drug Policy Ciatta will mandate the creation of mental health and drug treatment facilities statewide through public-private partnerships to ensure every Oregonian has access to actual recovery, not enablement. She’ll require the state to track results of all funding distributions. That means building a statewide database of all nonprofits and NGOs receiving taxpayer funds for homelessness and addiction services, with bi-annual reporting, and audits to show progress. Infrastructure / Transportation Ciatta will champion reductions in gas tax, cap the cost of TriMet passes, and stand up to wasteful ODOT spending. She’ll make sure we have good infrastructure and that we can get to work without costing an arm and leg. Government Reform Ciatta proudly supports the #ENDVBM initiative to end Oregon’s automatic vote-by-mail system. She believes in secure, in-person elections with voter ID to restore confidence and trust in our democratic process. Taxes / Budget Ciatta wants to help hard-working families make ends meet by reducing taxes and extending important tax credits. Taxes / Budget 10 year extension on the Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credit (OAHTC). Taxes / Budget 10 year extension on the Working Family Household & Dependent Care Credit (WFHDC). Taxes / Budget Eliminate CAT Tax.
