Education I will sponsor proposals to give additional resources to special education classes, so that our most vulnerable keiki have the tools they need to succeed. And I will advocate for measures that will provide a free college education to all, placing a higher education within everyone's grasp. Healthcare And I will champion proposals to reduce out-of-pocket health care costs, improve our state's health insurance assistance program, expand access to telehealth services, and boost preventive and mental health programs for seniors. Infrastructure / Transportation I support expanding zipper lane access during rush hour commutes. To advance Hawai'i's clean transportation goals, we should build more charging stations for electric vehicles and require all new developments to reserve a higher percentage of parking stalls for EVs. Healthcare Additionally, I will make affordable healthcare a priority for our community. Our kūpuna should not be burdened by the cost of essential medical treatments. I will support efforts to exempt medical services from the general excise tax. Social Services We must increase the supply of affordable housing for kupuna and expand access to rental assistance for senior citizens. I will also fight to fund essential elder services, like the Kūpuna Caregivers program, that provide invaluable financial help for home-baed senior care. Infrastructure / Transportation I believe that we should invest in repairing our roadways, so that commuters can feel confident behind the wheel. I also support building rail to Ala Moana, while increasing fiscal oversight to ensure that every dollar is accounted for. Wages / Job Benefits It's time to make Hawai'i's economy work for Hawai'i's people. I support creating a living wage of at least 18/hour and linking future increases to the consumer price index, so that everyone can afford to meet their basic needs. Wages / Job Benefits I will also work to establish paid sick and family leave programs that allow workers to care for newborns, aging kupuna, and themselves without sacrificing their financial well-being. Infrastructure / Transportation Finally, as transportation continues to evolve, Hawaiʻi should get ahead of the curve by designing the infrastructure and regulations needed to accommodate driverless cars and air taxis, which are already being deployed in big cities. Education I will champion legislation to increase funding for public schools, raise teacher pay, and lower class sizes, I will also support efforts to repair deteriorating facilities and replace standardized testing with authentic assessment that aligns with real-world problem-solving. Economy I will fight for truly affordable housing and tax fairness to prevent future generations from being priced out of paradise.
