Housing With Maricopa County continuing to be one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S., it is a priority of mine to expand Arizona’s housing supply to meet the needs of our growing state. I will continue to work collaboratively to remove barriers to building more housing and support Arizonans achieve homeownership. Education Investing in our teachers is not only a matter of fiscal policy; it is essential to the future success of our state. We need to retain our talented educators and demonstrate our commitment to education by keeping dollars in the classroom with each state budget. Housing Over the past two years, average rents went up almost 30% in Phoenix. I support a holistic approach to addressing the rising cost of living in our state, and that begins with assisting renters who are trying to make ends meet. Healthcare Our long-term health outcomes should not be determined by our zip code. I support policies that address the social determinants of health as well as the needs of the whole person that encompasses their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Healthcare Arizona families have diverse needs, especially when it comes to their healthcare. I will continue to work towards ensuring universal access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare, regardless of personal circumstances. Healthcare Living with Type 2 diabetes, I understand firsthand how prescription drug prices are out of control. I will continue to fight to lower these costs so that our community does not have to decide between buying prescriptions or groceries. Education Nationally, Arizona remains 48th out of 50 in per pupil funding, and our current and future economy depends on a more robust and educated workforce. We need to properly invest in our schools in order to meet the needs of our growing state. Wages / Job Benefits As the son of an AFSCME 2960 Chief Union Steward and the grandson of two union members, I will continue to advocate for a living wage, paid sick leave, and safe working conditions for all workers across our state. Education Our youth today are our next generation of leaders. From Pre-K to Higher Ed, we need to focus on their well-being and growth while creating greater educational opportunities for them to succeed and have flourishing careers in Arizona. Wages / Job Benefits Arizona can create a thriving workforce and promote job satisfaction, which is essential for a robust and thriving economy. I will work to expand and safeguard the right to collectively bargain without intimidation or harassment. Housing We need to help seniors and families transition into permanent housing by expanding new emergency and transitional shelters statewide.
