Infrastructure / Transportation As demand for water continues to grow across North Texas, Coppell is looking at ways to reduce its water consumption. Fortunately, the City has existing infrastructure like smart meters to help optimize water usage while empowering citizens to understand their daily use as well as change behaviors to protect our precious resource. The City's 6.8M investment is a catalyst for new relationships with our citizens and businesses while enabling the City to shift their operating paradigm from reactive to proactive - potentially extending the life of assets and reducing capital and operational expenditures. Currently, only 24% of City residents are signed on the City's Water Meter Portal. Infrastructure / Transportation Many of us would like to travelby walking or biking more in Coppell.A top reason preventing citizens from walking further and longer in Coppell is the condition of some sidewalks. Improving the pedestriannetwork can support themes in transportation and mobilityplanning efforts including equity, health &safety, economic vitality and environmental sustainability. It's time to further build on the City's effort related tothis infrastructure for pedestrians and other forms of micro-mobility (i.e. E-bikes) as well as ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Criminal Justice / Public Safety Substandard properties and neighborhood profoundly affectour health, education, and safety. Strategic code enforcement programs can serve as Coppell’s first line of defensefor addressing property challenges and neighborhood decline along with aging housing stock. Strategic code enforcement programs organize critical assets, resources, and actions into a dynamic and adaptive system. In addition, strategic code enforcement efforts are equitable, effective, and efficient, - achieving compliance in the shortest period of time and at the lowest cost to taxpayers. Currently, the City has two (2) vacant positions for Code Compliance Officers. Infrastructure / Transportation Easy, convenient access within 20-minutes to many of the places and services we use daily. Infrastructure / Transportation Tremendous opportunities abound in repurposing low occupancy office buildings and vacant retail spaces (i.e., approximately 14.2% as per CoStar) – making old things new again. Many underutilized storefronts and offices exist in our community because of shifting consumer preferences, hybrid work models, economic factors, and the rapid growth of online shopping. This focus will allow our community to breathe new life into low occupancy buildings and vacant retail spaces while adding to our tax rolls. Infrastructure / Transportation The comforts, infrastructure, and neighborhoods of Coppell today were born from inspiration and vision of past leaders and citizens. We must find ways to continue to honor our past that is represented today as our values, character, beauty, and sense of community - yet ensure we get the future right. Coppell must re-focus some investments, efforts, and programs to the neighborhood level. Housing Affordable as well as diverse housing options including considerations for vertical density. Taxes / Budget Re-think new ways to generate revenue streams to offset potential/further losses in sales taxes. Infrastructure / Transportation More sustainable, connected and safer infrastructure, mobility, and living conditions. Infrastructure / Transportation Integrated planning with the Coppell ISD. Infrastructure / Transportation Wider digital access to public services and engagement.
