Healthcare In Congress, Hilary will stand up to Big Pharma and fight to lower prescription drug costs, expand mental health care, and create more options for opioid treatment to heal our communities that desperately need help. Hilary understands the challenges that our rural communities face with long drives to understaffed hospitals and urgent care facilities. That’s why she will work to keep rural hospitals open and ensure they have the resources they need. Environment / Energy In Congress, Hilary will continue to be a champion and leader for climate resilience solutions, carbon sequestration initiatives, and the protection of our sacred lands and waters. She will also continue the fight to pass the Wild Olympics Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, introduced by Congressman Kilmer, that will permanently protect more than 126,000 acres of public land. Environment / Energy In Congress, she will continue to defend our waters by bringing home federal funding for salmon habitat restoration, infrastructure improvements, taking action against cancer-causing forever chemicals (PFAS), and protecting the Clean Water Act from congressional interference. Housing Hilary will bring this creative, solutions-oriented approach to Congress to fight for additional federal investments to solve our housing crisis and ensure everyone has a safe place to call home. Guns She supports common-sense violence prevention policies like universal background checks, banning ghost guns and assault weapons, closing loopholes that allow abusers and criminals to access firearms, and expanding waiting periods to help address the heartbreakingly high suicide rate in this country. Taxes / Budget In Congress, Hilary will stand up for working families by making the child tax credit permanent, fighting for a nationwide paid leave law, and championing affordable childcare. Abortion / Contraception In Congress, Hilary will work tirelessly to secure and defend reproductive rights, including fighting to restore federal protections for abortion rights, defending access to medication abortion, and working to protect and increase health care services in our rural communities. She will work to end bans on insurance coverage for abortion and safeguard taxpayer dollars by preventing the subsidization of fake clinics that exist to mislead patients seeking abortion care. Education Hilary will work to ensure that teachers and paraeducators are adequately supported and have the tools they need to educate and support our kids and continue on in the teaching profession. And she will take action to help students pursue higher education without being saddled with debt that they cannot afford, including by ensuring that the Pell Grant program is keeping up with increasing tuition costs and supporting legislation to allow student debt to be discharged in bankruptcy. Economy We need leaders like Hilary in Congress who will fight tirelessly to lower the costs of basic necessities like groceries, medicine, and utilities and build an economy that works for all of us.
