Guns We support comprehensive universal background checks and waiting periods for gun purchases. We support mental health and domestic violence exclusions. We propose and support a National Safe Storage Act which would provide gun owners with subsidized purchase of bio metric-capable gun safes, and to make safe storage the law, including specific clauses on storage and transport of firearms and ammunition. This would drastically reduce accidental firearm injuries and deaths. Immigration We must dismantle inhumane deportation programs and detention centers that have unjustly targeted communities of color. I will work toward the establishment of fair and swift legislative pathways to citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the shadows, ensuring that families are kept together and that everyone has the chance to pursue the American Dream. Wages / Job Benefits We must invest in workforce development. Currently, the United States ranks second to last among the world’s largest economies in workforce investment. To address this, I will champion legislation that provides guarantees to industry workers, ensuring they are able to provide for their families. Defense / Veterans I am committed to ensuring our veterans receive the highest quality of care and support as they transition to civilian life. Drug Policy Legalize marijuana nationally, taxing and regulating it. Enact Federal laws that allow banking marijuana profits so as to be legally invested in our communities. Expunge the records of people with non-violent crimes related to marijuana possession.
