My Top Issues
Attracting and retaining businesses
Our city development is stagnant and requires leadership with a vision to maximize our potential and growth. As mayor, I will work with our city council to push for initiatives that will foster an attractive environment for developers and revitalize our commercial district.
Invest in local public education
In 1996, I graduated Co-Valedictorian of my class. To see our schools failing is heart-wrenching. I will work with our Board of Education to take the necessary steps toward getting our school system back to passing and as importantly providing our children with an educational foundation that will enable them to be successful in life.
Enhancing community policing efforts and fostering cooperation between law enforcement and residents
Enhancement of our community policing efforts and fostering between our residents and law enforcement is crucial to improving the rate of crimes committed in Tarrant. As Mayor, I will support our law enforcement, advocate for improvements to our policing efforts and will ensure that we provide the necessary resources to best ensure our public's safety.
Who I'm Running Against
Wayman Newton (Independent)
Incumbant mayor, Tarrant's first black mayor, who began his campaign with secret meetings to drive a wedge between races in Tarrant. He has used racial slus against elected city council members. He avered that he would have sex with a councilman's wife in addition to bringing numerous law suits against the city and acted outside of his authority as Mayor multiple times costing the city approximately 1,000,000.
Tracie Threadford (Other)
Currently on City Counçil and was chosen to be Mayor Pro Tempore. Despite being repeatedly advised against it, She introduced an ordinance that in effect would have unlawfully changed the form of Tarrant's municipal government from City Council/Mayor to City Council/City Manager.
