Fun Fact
I spend a lot of my free time in the mountains. Whether it's hiking a new trail up City Creek Canyon or skiing at Alta in the winter, I love getting outside and exploring our beautiful backyard. My husband and I love to spend time with our dogs and be outside. We love to work on our house and are self proclaimed "DIY-ers". I love spending time with family and friends.
Past Experience
Achievements: I got my Bachelor's Degree in science from Utah Valley University in exercise science. I currently work as a Judicial Assistant and I have worked in various capacities I have been a restaurant server, I worked in St. Marks as a cardiac rehab specialist. I like to spend time in our community enjoying our outdoors trails around district 3 and the many green spaces we have. I've learned how to DIY our home with my husband we replaced our roof by ourselves, converted our front park strip to drought resistant native utah plants to conserve water, we like being with our dogs and our family.
Responsibilities: Food and Beverage Volunteer during Utah Pride Festival, Volunteer with Sundance Film Festival centered at the Rose Wagner Theater,
Skills: I have a track record of working collaboratively to solve problems. I understand that to create meaningful change, you have to be willing to work with others, even when you don't always agree. My approach is to build bridges, not walls, and to focus on finding pragmatic solutions that benefit the entire community. This skill will be critical for addressing our city's biggest challenges, from housing affordability to public safety.
My Top Issues
Business development grants and zones
As a small business owner myself I know the challenges that someone faces as they start a business or are trying to keep it operational despite all the challenges I am an advocate for small business growth and development. Our small businesses are the economic engine and cultural soul of District 3. They create jobs, foster community, and make our neighborhoods vibrant places to live. They need more than just support—they need a true partner on the City Council.
A Small Business Advocate: I will serve as a dedicated advocate for our local entrepreneurs, helping them navigate city regulations and access resources.
Revitalize Local Commerce: I will champion initiatives to revitalize our commercial corridors by advocating for targeted grants, simplified permitting, and tax incentives that help small businesses open and thrive. I will also push for protections for businesses impacted by long-term construction projects, such as the I-15 expansion and utility work, ensuring they have the financial support needed to survive.
Encourage Entrepreneurship: I will work to connect aspiring and current small business owners with essential city and county resources like the Salt Lake City Library's business assistance programs, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and local funding opportunities.
Enhancing community policing
Public Safety, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse
Public safety is not just about law enforcement; it's about addressing the root causes of crime and distress. I am committed to a compassionate, comprehensive approach that supports all residents.
Unsheltered People Protections: I believe in a strategy that respects the dignity of our unsheltered community members while ensuring public spaces are safe and accessible for everyone. I will advocate for a sustainable coordinated response to homelessness that focuses on connecting individuals with housing, mental health services, and substance abuse treatment.
Criminal Justice Support & Alternative Responses: We must invest in programs that provide alternatives to traditional law enforcement for non-violent incidents, such as civil issues, mental health crises, and substance abuse issues. This means supporting strategies that de-escalate or minimize punishment for non-violent civil offenses to better serve our community while enabling law enforcement to focus on more critical issues. This approach will allow us to build a more effective, compassionate system.
Expanding Access to Care: I will partner with Salt Lake County and local providers to expand access to mental health, substance abuse , or housing instability services. I will also champion the Salt Lake City Justice Court's Homeless Outreach Court. This compassionate alternative to the traditional justice system connects individuals with the legal aid, housing, and treatment they need to find stability and reduce recidivism.
have a deep appreciation for the unique character of District 3. I understand that our historic neighborhoods, like the Avenues and Capitol Hill, are what make our community special. Smart Growth & Affordable Housing
The demand for housing in Salt Lake City has never been higher, and our district is feeling the pressure. I believe we can accommodate new growth without sacrificing the unique character we all cherish. My commitment is to advocate for policies that increase our housing stock and affordability while protecting our historic neighborhoods.
Avenues Community Plan: I will be a strong advocate for an updated Avenues Community Plan that is flexible and responsive to modern housing needs. This includes exploring policies that allow for a variety of housing types, from single-family homes to duplexes and townhomes, while ensuring new developments are architecturally compatible with the surrounding area.
Support for ADUs and "Missing Middle" Housing: We need to make it easier for our residents to be part of the solution. I will champion policies that streamline the permitting process for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and other "missing middle" housing types, providing more affordable options for families, students, and seniors.
Balanced Development: New development, especially near transit corridors like the future S-Line and TRAX extensions, should be designed with the community in mind. I will work to ensure these projects provide meaningful community benefits, such as enhanced public spaces and transit-oriented designs, that integrate seamlessly with our established neighborhoods.
