Infrastructure / Transportation I am committed to not only securing a seat at the table with the NTMWD, but also continuing to make strides in securing affordable and fair rates from the District for Rowlett’s water. Infrastructure / Transportation I stand committed to initiatives which control how our community grows and changes. In order to assure what’s best for current residents, special and careful consideration must be given to any multi-family developments, large commercial institutions, and package liquor stores, where legally possible. Environment / Energy I will work to ensure our park facilities receive the necessary funding needed to remain open and available for families to play, sports teams to practice, and athletes to exercise. I will also continue to strenuously advocate for the preservation of green spaces and tree canopies both in our existing park areas and within proposed developments. Taxes / Budget I will work closely with the City Manager Hall and the Finance Department to ensure we look for strategic ways to reduce the city’s tax rate by leveraging the growth in both new construction and ad valorem increases to existing homes & businesses. Infrastructure / Transportation My commitment to take steps to minimize the impact of traffic throughout our City remains unchanged. While our area continues to grow, I’m confident that we can find innovative and efficient solutions to abate the impacts of the more serious traffic flow problems we have experienced previously. Taxes / Budget I am proposing that amount be doubled to 2%, or 10,000. This change would help by reducing the property tax burden on our residents who are homeowners, and provide some relief to the continued appraisal increases. Infrastructure / Transportation Over the past 12 months, Rowlett undertook a new initiative to perform concrete and asphalt replacement in-house. I am vehemently in support of this new initiative, and extremely proud that it is a staff-led effort, because people support that which they help build. Infrastructure / Transportation I will press for a needs assessment for the RCC to determine what improvements are needed to stay current with the needs of our residents. With so many guests each year, city leaders are obligated to answer the call to support the RCC, and I stand ready to answer that call. Environment / Energy I am committed to taking necessary steps to expand the community’s access to the lake. During my term as Mayor, I will propose further development of our paddle trails and the addition of access points for both small and larger watercraft. Social Services As a long-time proponent of the Rowlett Public Library, I will continue to support the community resources it provides.
