My Top Issues

Social Services

I founded the Holy Family–Tuxedo Junction Community Garden in District 8 because I believe fresh food is a right, not a privilege. I’ll fight for gardens, farmers markets, and school programs that teach kids how to grow what they eat. Food is Power!

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

I challenge the idea that safety just means policing. In District 8, safety means more opportunity, more resources, and stronger connections between neighbors. We deserve to feel safe in every corner of our district—not just from crime, but from the disinvestment that breeds it.

Economy

District 8 continues to be left out of Birmingham’s growth. If a project breaks ground here, we should get our share—jobs to clear the land, build the structures, and stay employed. I’ll fight for job training, small business support, and local hiring.

Government Reform

I joined the city’s outrage when the state took over the Birmingham Water Works Board. Water is life—and it belongs to us. I’ll fight every day to keep our public assets local. No sell-offs. No privatization. No backdoor deals.

Education

As a former teacher, I’ve seen what our kids are missing. They don’t just need test prep—they need mentors, after-school programs, job skills, and people who show up. I’ll fight for funding and partner with anyone ready to put our youth first.

Environment / Energy

There’s no such thing as a small improvement. Every repaved sidewalk, every community cleanup, every planted garden is part of our revival. I believe in walkable blocks, safe streets, and neighborhoods filled with pride—and yes, farmers markets, kids on bikes, and businesses we actually own.
