Taxes / Budget One thing we should work to do is eliminate the sales tax on groceries. Guns Liberty only exists when people have the right to protect themself, their family, and their property. The Second Amendment to the US Constitution insures our liberty. Abortion / Contraception The Right to Life is the most basic of human rights. All life must be protected by our laws. This is especially true for the defenseless, the unborn. Education Post-secondary educational opportunities need to be available and affordable for all who seek them. This should include professional training & certification, skilled trades as well as college. Economy Tennessee has been discovered. We are a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We must be proactive to protect the very environment that has attracted people to our state. This includes natural and economic resources, as well as infrastructure needs. Government Reform Government must have constraints on its power. Every person should be allowed to be responsible for themselves. This includes the free exercise of individual rights and private property rights. Government Reform Local autonomy needs to be respected. Local government, Boards, and Commissions should be allowed to do the job they were elected to do, not dictated to from Nashville. Education To promote and encourage Innovation and Excellence in education, public money used to educate our children should follow the child. Taxes / Budget Government does not have a revenue problem, but a spending problem. Tennesseans on average pay 28.7% of their income in taxes* (federal, state, local). We need to reduce this burden on families.
