Drug Policy Ensuring a safe and legitimate cannabis industry is essential for both public health and economic growth. We must continue to implement comprehensive legislation that prioritizes quality control, responsible consumption and eliminating the illicit market. By doing so, we can sustain a thriving industry that creates high wage jobs, continues to diversify our economy, generates tax revenue, and ensures access to safe cannabis products. Abortion / Contraception I oppose any efforts to restrict access to these services or limit reproductive rights. I’m committed to addressing the underlying social and cultural factors that impact reproductive health, including disparities in access to care based on socioeconomic status. Environment / Energy I also support investing in community-based violence prevention programs, like New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, and research to understand and address the root causes of gun violence. By working together and implementing these measures, we can create safer communities for all. Environment / Energy Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time and it is crucial that we take action to protect our environment. We need policies, investments and infrastructure that prioritize sustainability, renewable energy, and conservation to ensure a healthy environment for future generations. Social Services Investing in early childhood education and care is not just a matter of policy, it is a commitment to the future of our community. Providing quality early childhood education and care ensures that every child, regardless of their zip code, has a fair start in life. It sets the foundation for lifelong learning, social development, and success in school and beyond. Abortion / Contraception I believe that every woman has the fundamental right to access comprehensive and affordable health care. This includes access to reproductive health services, such as contraception, prenatal care, and safe abortion services. Economy I am committed to supporting legislation to foster entrepreneurial innovation and economic development. I recognize the critical role that business plays in driving innovation, creating jobs, and building resilient communities. To achieve this, I will focus on: (1) access to capital and mentorship opportunities; (2) education and training to start and grow successful businesses; (3) incentivize research and development; and (4) invest in shovel ready projects that support business parks, incubators and accelerators. Healthcare Addressing the shortage of healthcare workers is a critical priority. We must invest in strategies to recruit, train, and retain healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers and other essential workers. This includes increasing funding for education programs, expanding scholarships and loan forgiveness programs, and improving working conditions and support for healthcare workers. By addressing the shortage of healthcare workers, we can improve the health and well-being of families and communities. Guns Reducing gun violence is a critical priority that demands comprehensive, evidence-based strategies. I’ve advocated for and supported common-sense measures such as universal background checks, closing loopholes in existing laws, and implementing red flag laws to prevent individuals at risk of harming themselves or others from accessing firearms.
