Housing I will continue to find new ways and incentives that will bring more affordable housing construction to Sacramento. I’m proud to partner with Councilmember Katie Valenzuela and Councilmember Caity Maple in our campaign to move Sacramento Forward. Join us and learn how you can help to protect families and keep them in their homes. Environment / Energy Unrelenting heatwaves, poor air quality, heavy rains, and constant fires – the impacts of climate change affect the lives of everyone in our city. Amid our preparations for the climate's shifts, many of our elders and hardworking families in South Sac lack the resources to swiftly adapt to these sudden changes. I remain steadfast in my commitment to ensuring that we do not leave our most vulnerable communities behind. Infrastructure / Transportation I will continue to fight for increased tree canopy in South Sac, provide incentives for green infrastructure, broaden the scope of public transportation options to alleviate congestion and air pollution, and enhance the accessibility of walking, biking, and transit for our community. Infrastructure / Transportation Food insecurity is a significant challenge for many in South Sacramento due to limited access to nutritious food, lack of transportation, and rising costs. Many residents struggle to afford healthy meals, relying on convenience stores or unhealthy alternatives. As your councilmember, I established the city’s first-ever Food Justice Task Force to ensure we change the trajectory of our food system and build capacity of our community organizations to support families and neighborhoods. I will continue to advocate for healthy and locally sourced food and increase resources to expand community and urban gardens. In partnership with Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, I’m proud to have secured 500,000 in the state budget to launch the Meadowview farmer’s market coming soon! Criminal Justice / Public Safety Keeping our community safe and building a healthy South Sac demands that we go beyond providing basic services for the community. As your councilmember, I advocated for transparency and pushed for more accountability so that our city can prioritize deescalation and invest our precious resources towards intervention and prevention programs that address the root cause of crimes in our neighborhoods. I will continue to prioritize public health and safety and work to ensure that we can continue to build trust in our community.
