Top Issues

Taxes / Budget I have proposed a ballot initiative to increase the General Fund by increasing the Transit Occupancy Tax (TOT). I will look for ways to reduce the bloated middle management and invest those cost savings into our long-neglected infrastructure. Infrastructure / Transportation I have partnered with neighbors and schools to advocate for the installation of crosswalks and stop signs to help reduce speeding and improve street safety. I have advocated for e-bike legislation and education. And I believe that improving road conditions is vital to ensuring the public’s safety. Social Services I support expanding safe, dignified shelters and interim housing paired with services, and establishing neighborhood-based homeless service hubs, such as the Anchor Station in Ocean Beach, in every community experiencing homelessness. These solutions must be developed in partnership with neighborhoods so people can access care, housing navigation, and support close to where they are. Housing I will expand first-time homebuyer assistance programs and support the conversion of underutilized commercial properties into mixed-use developments that create more housing opportunities. Environment / Energy I will champion climate action and coastal resiliency by ensuring that San Diego funds and meets the goals of the Climate Action Plan. This includes expanding urban tree planting, investing in nature-based solutions, and protecting neighborhoods from climate impacts, guided by community voices and local expertise. Housing I will also push for strong inclusionary housing requirements so new developments include truly affordable units, not just market-rate housing labeled as “affordable.”. Infrastructure / Transportation We have streets that need to be repaved, streetlights that need repair, and parks and libraries that need to be maintained and opened. Infrastructure / Transportation At the same time, I will oppose one-size-fits-all state mandates that fail to account for the unique challenges of our coastal neighborhoods, including infrastructure limitations, traffic, and coastal access. Environment / Energy Expanding urban forestry and ensuring San Diego meets its climate goals.
