Environment / Energy From Sebago Lake to Casco Bay, let's protect our clean water and natural resources from exploitation, extractive industries, and PFAS contamination. The county has a role to play in regional water quality monitoring and holding polluters accountable. Housing Let's shift beyond crisis management and the criminal justice system and focus on preventative, diversionary solutions. Housing-first approaches and wraparound services are more effective and more humane than criminalization. Environment / Energy We are on the unceded territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy, particularly the Aucosisco, who lived along the Presumpscot River and throughout Casco Bay. Cumberland County can strengthen relationships with Maine's tribal populations through meaningful consultation, land acknowledgment, and collaboration on land stewardship. Housing We need an all-of-the-above, county-wide housing strategy that includes public and social housing. The county can leverage its bonding authority and regional coordination to accelerate affordable housing development across our communities. Government Reform Money shouldn't be a barrier to running for office. Let's bring clean elections reform to the county so that candidates are judged on their ideas, not their fundraising connections. Infrastructure / Transportation As a county, we can accomplish so much more on regional planning, cost savings, and public transportation. This includes studying light rail feasibility and expanding trail and bike networks that connect our communities. Immigration No more county complicity in tearing families apart. Counties should not be in the business of federal immigration enforcement.
