Katy City Council - Ward B

Top Issues

Taxes / Budget Overhauling the permitting department to be efficient and easier to work with for citizens & small businesses (As this is the most common complaint I've heard about that's still ignored). Taxes / Budget Eliminate homeowners taxes completely for seniors 65 & older. Taxes / Budget Eliminate 1% city sales tax, cutting effective rate from 8.25% to 7.25%. Taxes / Budget Propose a 1 Year Freeze and/or 3 Year gradual re-introduction not exceeding 75% of current rates. Infrastructure / Transportation Invest in solutions to minimize/eliminate sentiment mixing of water delivery. Economy Emphasize pro-small business stance & policy. Taxes / Budget Cut property taxes to at least 0.31875 per 100. Infrastructure / Transportation Call for a full blown inspection of our water facilities & determine points of failure. Infrastructure / Transportation As for drainage this has been fine but could be improved to address neighborhoods previously skipped & perform more regular maintenance/rebuilds on past work. Arts / Culture FINALLY open Katy Civic Center for public rentals (Weddings, Gatherings, Small indoor events/conferences, etc.). Infrastructure / Transportation (If Necessary) Replace major sections of water infrastructure over the next several years. Taxes / Budget Demand a full, independent audit of FY19-FY25 to investigate erratic shifts in budget amounts & largest spending increases in city history.. Arts / Culture Revive Katy Market Days where it's original organizers have full creative control, the right to form a committee, and possibly work with the city again in partnerships for Easter or Christmas markets. Taxes / Budget Shrink in certain aspects (per review) to restore more power to citizens.
