Wauwatosa City Council - District 8

Top Issues

Environment / Energy Commit to protect and recognize our parks and green spaces for their impact on our community and environment. Environment / Energy Identify areas to plant more trees and native plants to keep our city green. Taxes / Budget Every dollar comes from taxpayers. We must use it wisely. I support clear financial reporting, long-term planning, and data-driven budgeting that protects services while maintaining fiscal discipline. Infrastructure / Transportation Install permanently protected crosswalk bump-outs and improved crossing lights along school crossing guard routes. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Maintain appropriate staffing levels for police, fire, and EMS so response times remain fast and reliable. Taxes / Budget Hire an independent consultant to review city ordinances and internal processes to identify best practices and potential cost savings. Taxes / Budget Use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) carefully and only when it truly benefits the broader community, not just large developers. Taxes / Budget Create a program to assist Seniors with their property tax bill. Housing Expand “Missing Middle” housing options like duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhomes, and small condo buildings that fit naturally into our neighborhoods and provide attainable choices for working families, young professionals, and retirees. Housing Encourage mixed-income developments so teachers, nurses, first responders, and seniors can afford to live in the community they serve. Environment / Energy Our parks, schools, local businesses, and infrastructure are what make Wauwatosa special. We must maintain and invest in them thoughtfully so they remain strong for the next generation. Infrastructure / Transportation Create overnight parking zones and permits to create a voluntary source of revenue. Taxes / Budget Explore hiring additional in-house legal staff if it lowers long-term spending on outside attorneys. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Add stronger traffic-calming measures on routes to schools, busy pedestrian areas, bike routes, and high-accident streets. Taxes / Budget Bring forward new ideas and solutions to reduce our expenses, discover new revenue streams outside of taxes, and run more efficiently. Give residents more input on allocating resources to better invest in projects with greater community impact. Housing Promote thoughtfully designed medium-density housing near neighborhood commercial areas to increase affordability while maintaining neighborhood character. Housing Transform underused commercial properties into vibrant mixed-use neighborhoods with housing, small businesses, and gathering spaces. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Public safety is foundational to a strong community. That means supporting first responders, improving street design for safer travel, and strengthening partnerships that prevent problems before they escalate. Housing Proactively research and forecast trends in commercial real estate and office parks so we can prepare for changing demand. Infrastructure / Transportation Growth should be balanced, predictable, and aligned with our long-term vision. We need housing options that serve families, young professionals, seniors, and longtime residents, while protecting neighborhood character and infrastructure capacity.
