Fun Fact

In my free time I enjoy running, and have completed 4 marathons. I run every morning around our street and around the high school either by myself or with our dogs. I am known as the mom to the pesky community Pyrenees, Monte, who will appear on Facebook every few months. I am also a new grandmother to twin granddaughters who live in Dothan, Alabama. I am married to David and together, we have 5 children. Our youngest, Wesley, is a senior this year at Hartselle High School. I look forward to all the celebrations that will take places this year as he prepares for graduation.

Past Experience

I have 4 years of experience as the President/CEO of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, where I worked to improve the quality of life in the Hartselle area by supporting local businesses, securing funding, and establishing partnerships. This led to improved rates of volunteerism, more private investment in our community, and better collaboration between our regional partners. This experience has equipped me with the skills and commitment needed to serve as an elected official. I’ve spent decades leading teams, managing operations, and building programs that thrive. Before leading nonprofits and community initiatives, I built a corporate career focused on strategic objectives and data-driven results. I started my professional career as a Sales and Service Associate at the YMCA Central Branch (now the Dowd Branch), where I maintained monthly and yearly sales goals for an 8,000-member facility. It was this role that deepened my understanding of the organization and planning it takes to create spaces where community can thrive. From there, I became the Southeast Service Administrator for Westinghouse Electric, managing daily operations and communications, including organizing large-scale meetings with more than 100 participants. At Chrysler Corporation, I partnered with 172 dealerships across Alabama and Mississippi, analyzing profitability, building sales strategies, and helping teams reach ambitious goals. I coordinated major promotional events, advised owners on operational improvements, and developed marketing plans that drove measurable growth. In these positions, I learned how to lead people, solve problems quickly, and keep complex operations running smoothly. Through every role, I’ve learned that effective leadership takes clear organization, focused objectives, consistent follow-through, and the willingness to take responsibility. Those are the same qualities I’ll bring to City Hall.

My Top Issues

Enhancing transparency and accountability

We must consistently operate with transparency, encourage public involvement, and address feedback. I will lead with openness and accessibility. You are our customer and we work for you!

Attracting and retaining businesses

My focus is on continuous improvement and leveraging Hartselle's unique position in North Alabama, with its direct access to I-65. I will pursue balanced development that preserves Hartselle's distinctive charm. I will collaborate with the many organizations in our area such as the Morgan County EDA, the Hartselle Area Chamber, the Hartselle for Tomorrow Foundation, the Morgan County Commission, and legislators to accomplish strategic growth goals.

Investing in park maintenance and improvement

I want to enhance our Park & Recreation facilities and programs to improve the quality of life for our residents, attract tourists, and cater to our family-first community.

Infrastructure / Transportation

Parks & Recreation: I will enhance our Park & Recreation facilities and programs to improve the quality of life for our residents, attract tourists, and cater to our family-first community.

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

Keep our neighborhoods and commercial areas safe. Hartselle's safe environment demonstrates a dedication to community policing, code enforcement, and a robust Public Works Department. The maintenance of these essential functions of the City will be a priority and delivered with courtesy, professionalism, and fairness.

Economy

Partnering with our local schools, with our chamber of commerce, and our economic development association, we can create pathways to supply our local needs and attract new industry.

Education

Ensure the strength and stability of our schools. Hartselle City Schools are the pride of our community. Their strong state-wide, and national standing provide the backbone for our economy.

Taxes / Budget

Sound fiscal management with investments in strategic growth. Hartselle's strong financial standing allows for strategic investments that will drive the city's progress.

Healthcare

Attract more local access to quality healthcare. Local healthcare options increase the availability, quality, and accessibility of medical services to our community. We will work with our local healthcare partners to better access a wider range of treatment options right here in Hartselle.

Economy

Economic development and jobs in the city. We must continue to build our local economy and create job opportunities in Hartselle by attracting industry and making it easy for small businesses to start and do business.

Arts / Culture

Improve our city as a tourist destination. To enhance Hartselle's appeal, we will leverage existing assets such as our Historic Downtown, and improve Sparkman Park's sports tourism opportunities.

Infrastructure / Transportation

Infrastructure: With a focus on a team approach, I will aggressively invest in long-range planning for the maintenance and improvement of our roads.

Education

We must invest in our school system to support its ability to continue to provide outstanding academic and extracurricular success for students.
