Fun Fact
In my free time I love to garden, read, and spend my time volunteering and giving back to the community! I will be a grandma this year welcoming a sweet grandson right around election time! A fun fact about me is I am fluent in American Sign Language and used to work as an interpreter.
Past Experience
I’ve spent over 20 years working in management roles, the last 12 in the Finance field. Right now, I’m proud to be working on opening the new Garden Center right here in Ayden!
But for me, it’s always been about more than work. It’s about community.
Through the years, I’ve led many volunteer projects including many in Ayden. I’ve raised funds to support the Ayden Museum’s mural and the 4AC African American Ancestral Cemetery. I serve as Treasurer of the Ayden Collard Festival Board, Christmastown Committee member, I coordinate the parades, serve on the Downtown Mainstreet board, Chamber, and lead the Ayden Community Garden Club.
All of these experiences, whether in business or volunteer work, have taught me how to bring people together, solve problems, and move projects forward. They’ve shown me the importance of accountability, communication, and action.
I’m running for Ayden Town Commissioner, Ward 5 because I believe we need leadership that listens, plans wisely, and always puts our community first. My roots in Ayden run deep, and I’m ready to work for the future we all deserve.
My Top Issues
Invest in infrastructure, create jobs
Invest in and find grants for beautifying downtown with green spaces, trees, walkability, and charm.
Support and attract small businesses to create a thriving local economy.
Develop an economic plan that reflects Ayden’s history while embracing smart growth.
Support urban revitalization and redevelopment
Prioritize long-overdue repairs to roads, sidewalks, and aging infrastructure.
Fight for state and federal grants to fund improvements without raising taxes.
Push for smart, forward-thinking planning to avoid costly mistakes down the road.
Enhancing transparency and accountability
End the “silent treatment” from leadership—no more votes without discussion or explanation.
Commit to monthly public updates (video or written) so citizens stay informed.
Hold listening sessions so the public’s voice is heard before major decisions.
