Fun Fact
I love to research family history and spend time learning and meeting new family members. Family is a driving force with me, by sharing good times, strong values and personal responsibility to move the next generation to success. It means being open to their ideas, allowing them to fail forward and making them feel safe to share their concerns.
Past Experience
I have 31 years of experience working as a public servant at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, where I worked to ensure fiscal compliance, balanced multiple budgets, developed policies and established partnerships. During this period a 2026 bed facility was built, which resulted in larger staffing, changes in processes and increased oversight of budget. All of which I was an actively engaged in as a member of the Executive Team.
I have 8 years' experience as a councilperson with the City of Connell, where I have approved resolutions, ordinances and contracts. Research was done to verify the questions presented with each item. The community has been impacted by positive changes and a need for future changes. This experience has prepared me with the expertise and commitment to serve as Mayor.
My Top Issues
Attracting and retaining businesses
Partnering with Port of Pasco and ECO NW will allow me to conduct a systematic review of the potential opportunities for the City of Connell. Identifying opportunities that meet the needs of the community while maintaining the small-town values is crucial.
Enhancing transparency and accountability
It is the communities right to be aware of the activities within City Hall and to have the ability to be a part of the solutions to issues that affect them. Bringing the information to the community is essential.
Sustainable land use practices
With upcoming growth in our community, it is important to ensure that the use of the land is maximized and will support the development of our small-town values.
Who I'm Running Against
Shelly Harper (Republican Party)
Active community member on many boards. She is currently on the Connell Chamber and the Museum Board. She has been the Woman of the Year. She went to high school here. She has been a Council person for the last 4 years.
Her views are different than mine. I understand she plans on cleaning house as soon as she gets in the office. Not my approach. She doesn't seem to have a lot of budget and governmental background.
