Top Issues

Criminal Justice / Public Safety I support hiring more police personnel, so we have the officers we need for prompt, reliable emergency response, and investing in safety technologies—better street lighting, and tools that speed response times—while protecting privacy. But public safety isn’t just about enforcement. I’m committed to community-centered approaches that restore trust and reduce crime: community policing that builds relationships, investment in violence-prevention and youth programs, mental-health and crisis response teams, stronger officer training, and independent oversight and accountability. My goal is simple: protect residents, rebuild trust between neighborhoods and law enforcement, and make sure every family can feel safe at home. Economy I will listen to local entrepreneurs and fight to remove barriers to growth and hiring, expand access to job training and infrastructure, and strengthen programs that help businesses and the families who depend on them. Housing I support streamlining processes and removing barriers to speed the development of safe, affordable housing for San Bernardino residents. I’ll partner with local government and legit nonprofits to help seniors, working families, and vulnerable residents stay housed. I will also hold negligent landlords accountable with stronger code enforcement, meaningful penalties, proactive inspections, a rental registry, expanded renter protections, and support for tenant legal aid so families aren’t exploited or forced from their homes. Infrastructure / Transportation I will strongly support an urgent downtown recovery plan that centers people first. We’ll stand up a rapid-response team to address safety hazards and get vacant properties back into productive use, offer immediate façade and pop-up activation grants to bring life and pride back to our streets, fast-track permits for thoughtful adaptive reuse, and form a public‑private task force focused on delivering both short-term relief and a sustainable long-term redevelopment strategy. Housing San Bernardino has over 350 nonprofits and providers working on homelessness with little to no oversight. I will require independent audits and public reporting, so every dollar and every outcome is visible to the community. Education Every child deserves the very best education we can offer - well-resourced classrooms, inspiring and supported teachers, safe and welcoming schools, and opportunities to explore the arts, sciences, and the skills of tomorrow. This is not a privilege for some but a shared responsibility and a moral investment in our collective future. Housing Many people experiencing homelessness struggle with mental illness or addiction and cannot make safe choices on their own. I support humane treatment options, including court‑ordered forced care, when necessary, to ensure people get the services they need to stabilize and rebuild their lives. Housing I will support outcome-based agreements that reward permanent housing retention — for example, households still housed after 12 months — and documented reductions in street homelessness. Education Parents must be empowered to choose the educational setting that best meets their child’s needs whether public, private, charter, or homeschooling and to have those choices supported by transparent information, strong accountability, and equitable access to resources. All paths should lead to excellence, and all providers must be held to standards that ensure every child can succeed. Education I am committed to advocating for equitable, excellent education and real parental choice, so every young person has the chance to thrive and to write their own story. Housing Build affordable homes now. We will cut the red tape that blocks housing production and fast-track approval.
