Infrastructure / Transportation In order to support our own transit infrastructure, New Jersey should look to implement congestion pricing on those entering New Jersey from New York. In the Fulop plan, these fees would be a dedicated revenue source to Light Rail expansion and to expand PATH service, which the Port Authority has gradually diminished over the last two decades. Housing Require a state database with each municipality and their rankings of compliance so that residents can have more transparency into their municipality’s compliance with desegregation of housing and then tie potential state aide to the progress of each municipality around affordable housing. Arts / Culture Recognizing that middle schools in nearly every district lack extracurricular activities, the Fulop Administration will require them to combine sports, music, and arts programs with neighboring districts to benefit all students. Housing As Governor, Fulop will use set aside funds to reward municipalities that CHOOSE to adopt ADU policies based on a sliding scale with regard to population and increased funds. Education Steve Fulop is committed to building on the goals set by Governor Murphy to create universal PreK across New Jersey. The Fulop Administration will work with the legislature on continuing to phase in programs and by identifying funding sources. Taxes / Budget As Governor, Fulop will implement a strong and clear policy that any new local obligations will be accompanied by resources from Trenton. Taxes / Budget As Governor, Steve Fulop will move the state to a point-of-sale process that will more accurately reflect the market and can be implemented with protections to keep stability amongst the tax base. This is already done in California, Florida, Michigan and Oregon. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Governor Fulop will require communities to establish CCTV systems in the areas most impacted by gun violence. Criminal Justice / Public Safety As Governor, Fulop will mandate that on a municipal or county level, as appropriate, there be training and testing on the ability to respond to and address a disaster or active attacker. Healthcare The Fulop Administration would pursue regulations around minimum nurse staffing levels in hospitals to ensure adequate patient care. In addition, his administration would create restrictions on hospitals’ reliance on traveling nurses due to pay disparity, decreased staff morale, and disruption in patient care. Housing As Governor, Steven Fulop’s goal is to confront this challenge head on and DOUBLE the affordable housing production of previous years and cut the catch up time in half with his #FixNJ plan. Infrastructure / Transportation Governor Fulop will commit to full funding to complete construction of the Hudson-Essex Greenway and Camden County LINK. Criminal Justice / Public Safety As Governor, Steve Fulop will insist that every county impacted by gun violence establish the equivalent of the Jersey City ceasefire unit. This is a ready, investigative group focused on immediately apprehending and prosecuting every gun crime that occurs. Social Services In order to make a meaningful difference in the lives of working families, a comprehensive program around child care assistance will be a core priority for the Fulop Administration. Education In Year 1, Governor Fulop will impanel an independent board of educators, activists, and state leaders tasked with producing a comprehensive, statewide plan to address segregation, including economic and social factors. Following that, the Fulop Administration will use the revised school funding formula as a tool to incentivize school districts to proactively seek diversity. Healthcare As Governor, Steve Fulop commits to extending the Medical Debt Relief program. In addition, the Fulop administration would work to increase transparency in the healthcare system in order to prevent medical debt in the first place and would limit extraordinary debt collection practices. Infrastructure / Transportation Governor Fulop would set a clear mandate that all customer services be completed within 30 minutes. A visit to the MVC should not be a multi hour experience for NJ residents. Fulop would expand the work force and change the hours of operation to achieve this.
