Fitchburg City Mayor

Top Issues

Infrastructure / Transportation If a project lacks sufficient funding or faces challenges - sensible leadership pauses, reassesses, and brings the community into the conversation. Activating community input ensures priorities are clear and solutions are collaborative, rather than forcing projects forward at the expense of fiscal responsibility. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Safe neighborhoods require well-funded, well-trained police and fire departments. Sensible funding ensures first responders have modern equipment, adequate staffing, and the training needed to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies. Taxes / Budget A sensible city government focuses on efficiency - streamlining processes, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, and making city services easier to navigate. Whether someone is starting a business, pulling a permit, or reporting a concern, the process should be clear and respectful of people’s time. Environment / Energy By taking a common-sense approach to environmental responsibility, Fitchburg can grow in a way that respects our natural surroundings, protects future generations, and ensures the city remains healthy, resilient, and livable for years to come. Infrastructure / Transportation As mayor, my commitment is simple: plan carefully, stay within budget, and be accountable to the people of Fitchburg. Strong infrastructure requires discipline, transparency, and leadership that respects both community trust and taxpayer dollars. Infrastructure / Transportation Core services, such as roads, water, utilities, public facilities, and everyday city operations - are the foundation of a functioning community. When these systems are ignored or addressed only after problems arise, costs increase, disruptions grow, and residents feel the impact. Infrastructure / Transportation Strong transportation systems support drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users alike. Well-designed roads, sidewalks, bike paths, and crossings improve safety and accessibility for residents of all ages and abilities. Environment / Energy Environmental responsibility also means building and maintaining infrastructure that works with the environment rather than against it. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Keeping neighborhoods safe means using data to understand trends, identify problems, and allocate resources efficiently. Sensible public safety isn’t about doing more - it’s about doing what works. Taxes / Budget A strong, balanced city depends on more than residential growth alone. Expanding Fitchburg’s business and industrial base is essential to creating jobs, stabilizing the tax levy, and investing in the services residents rely on every day. Housing Affordable housing isn’t just a talking point - it requires thoughtful, coordinated action at the local level. Simply calling housing “affordable” doesn’t make it so, especially when municipal policies quietly add significant costs behind the scenes. Criminal Justice / Public Safety By analyzing calls for service, utilizing available data resources, and neighborhood concerns, the city can focus efforts where they’re needed most and adjust strategies as conditions change. Housing Creating more affordable housing means taking a holistic approach. It requires reviewing fees, streamlining processes, and asking whether regulations are truly serving the community—or simply making housing harder to attain. Infrastructure / Transportation Sensible government plans for the future with intention. That means smart growth that balances development with infrastructure, public safety, environmental responsibility, and quality of life. Taxes / Budget It is one of my number one goals to ensure that we can keep taxes low, and ensure Fitchburg is an affordable place to live, no matter what stage of life you are in. Economy Sustainable business and industrial growth requires intentional planning, predictable processes, and collaboration. By welcoming the right businesses and supporting long-term investment, Fitchburg can grow responsibly while protecting residents, strengthening the local economy, and building a community that works for everyone. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Responsible funding also means planning ahead—so departments aren’t forced to make reactive cuts or operate understaffed as the city grows. Investing in public safety protects response times, supports firefighter and officer wellbeing, and ensures Fitchburg can meet both everyday needs and major emergencies. Environment / Energy Responsible environmental leadership focuses on planning ahead. This includes protecting water quality, managing stormwater effectively, preserving green spaces, and ensuring development is designed with long-term environmental impacts in mind. When these considerations are addressed early, communities avoid costly fixes, environmental damage, and unintended consequences down the road. Infrastructure / Transportation As Mayor I will prioritizes planning, preventative maintenance, and responsible investment so core services remain reliable, resilient, and ready for the future - without needing to scramble to catch up. Arts / Culture Communities are safer when people know their neighbors, feel connected, and look out for one another. Creating opportunities for connection - through events, shared spaces, and inclusive community programming - helps build trust and belonging across neighborhoods.
