Job description
The County Surveyor is responsible for administering the county land survey records, re-establishing and maintaining the official government survey monuments, and reviewing property boundaries surveys and subdivision plans.
Eligibility requirements
Must possess qualifications of an elector. Must be a U.S. citizen, must be an Arkansas resident, and must reside within township, justice of the peace district, or county to be represented. Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age. Must be lawfully registered to vote. Must never have been convicted of embezzlement of public money, bribery, forgery, or other infamous crime. Must be registered as a professional surveyor by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors.

Filing requirements: Filing fee is set by the party county committee (party candidates). Petition signature requirements for independent candidates: 3% of the qualified electors in the county or township in which the candidate seeks office, based upon the total number of votes cast for Governor in that county or township at the last election, but in no event shall more than 2,000 signatures be required.
